Events & Programs
We organize a variety of fun and educational special events throughout the year, including interactive workshops, day camps, tours, and Bands, Brews, & BBQ Thursdays all summer long! Proceeds from Minnesota Discovery Center events and programs benefit our organization’s mission.
Flagship Events & Programs
Do you have a curiosity about ancient artifacts? Dig into the past with us! Enjoy this interactive, fun, and informative camp to learn more about human history in this region.
Do you have a curiosity about fossils? Join us for a multi-day camp each summer where kids can dig for real fossils, learn more about paleontologists, and even take home their own cretaceous fossils!
Explore and enjoy activities designed for the whole family! Engage and learn about a variety of topics, from dinosaurs to geology, weaving, and more!
Discover who we are and what we offer at the Iron Range Research Center! Orientation tours are held all day on the second Saturday of each month.
Can’t make it in during the day? Join us on the last Thursday of each month as we offer an evening opportunity to perform research on your family’s history and genealogy.
Join us most Thursdays from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm all summer! Enjoy free admission, live music, delicious food and beverages, as well as yard games!
Ride our historic trolley through the beautiful fall foliage to the Glen Location pumpkin patch. Enjoy delicious fall treats, complimentary warm drinks, and bring your own pumpkin home! We will host this event on October 25th and 26th, 2025.
More than just concerts, the Red Dirt Concert Series celebrates music, culture, and the great outdoors in the Irons Range’s best amphitheater. Stay tuned for our jam-packed 2025 lineup!
Join us for an evening of fun in June that includes live music, food, games, BMX stunt shows, and special guests while learning about healthy living strategies, local mental health resources, education, and more!
Over three days in September, we welcome approx. 600 ninth graders from across Northeast Minnesota for an innovative experience with the goal of changing the way our youth think and talk about mental health, in addition to providing them with some tools and resources to utilize throughout the school year.
