General Information
As a nonprofit institution, the Minnesota Discovery Center is a museum, a research center, and a recreational park. We tell the story of the Iron Range - “The Land, The Mines, The People, and The Work” - through exhibits, interpretation, programming, and extensive research materials, including a 7,000-volume library collection.
Sprawling over a 660-acre campus, we represent the largest museum complex in Minnesota outside the Twin Cities. Our 33,000-square-foot museum showcases native artifacts, examines historical mining methods, and explores our regional geology. We also host traveling exhibits that demonstrate the spirit of the Iron Range.
