AMPHITHEATER
The Best Music Venue On The Iron Range
Ready for an unforgettable concert experience? Our amphitheater, at the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm, is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Iron Range. Surrounded by breathtaking red rock mining landscapes and with 1,600 seats—salvaged straight from the old Met Stadium in St. Paul—it’s not just a venue, it’s a piece of history.
Completed in 1985, this amphitheater quickly became a crowd favorite. By the end of its first full season, over 110,000 music lovers had already experienced the magic. The massive 70-foot-wide stage, backstage dressing rooms, and the space-frame roof structure that stretches over it give every performance that larger-than-life feeling, all while keeping things intimate enough to feel like you’re part of something special.
We’ve had some legends take the stage here. Our early “Star Series” featured huge names like Ronnie Milsap, Pat and Debbie Boone, the Stars of Lawrence Welk, and Chubby Checker. Blues on the Range brought the heat with performers like Marcia Ball, Fats Domino, Leon Russell, and Jerry Lee Lewis. We even had Waylon Jennings perform.
This year, we’ve turned it up a notch with our Red Dirt Concert Series, where you can catch an exciting mix of classic rock, pop, country, and cultural hits—all under the stars. Whether you’re a music enthusiast or just looking for a fun night out, we’ve got you covered. And if you need another reason to visit? The Mesabi Tribune named us the Best Live Entertainment Spot and Best Venue of 2024!
