Get your paddle on! Join MDC’s Recreation Staff as they guide you into the watery world of the Glen Mine Pit Lake. Learn about the geology (rock science) and limnology (lake science) of a man-made waterbody fashioned from a retired, reclaimed mine pit. 🚣🏽‍♀️

This interpretive recreational tour is 1.5 hours long and includes a 30-minute basic safety and skills presentation before you head out. Visitors can bring their own gear or rent a vessel, paddle, and life jacket from MDC. Life jacket-usage is non-optional. Safety first! 🦺

This serene outing is appropriate for beginner kayakers who want a gentle introduction to the sport, as well as experienced kayakers who want a low-key, educational experience.
