DESCRIPTION:Explore the exciting world of paleontology at the Minnesota Discovery Center! Our hands-on summer camps offer an interactive learning experience about paleontology\, what paleontologists do\, and its connection to Northern Minnesota. \nActivities Include: \n🦴 Digging for real fossils \n🔎 Fossil sifting \n🧽 Fossil cleaning \n🧠 Identification and labeling \nDetails: \nBelow are the dates and age groups for the three sessions: \n Ages 4-7 CampDate: June 16-18Time: 9:30am-12:30pmCost: $67.50 for members\, $75 for non-membersVenue: Indoor activities will be in the new Play Studio\, while outdoor will be on MDC’s campus. \nThere will be mid-morning light snacks and juice each day. Parents will need to accompany their kid(s). SUMMARY:Family Discovery Day: Fossils X3!
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, July 17\, from 3:00pm to 7:30pm for a day full of fossils\, fun\, and family adventures at Family Discovery Day: Fossils X3!  \nPresenters at this season’s Fossils X3! session include youth campers from the week’s Summer Paleo Camp who will be sharing their finds from a day in the field. Visitors will be able to see what the campers have discovered\, listen as they describe their week’s activities\, and answer questions about what they learned at Summer Paleo Camp. 🔍🥾 Our friends from the Science Museum of Minnesota will also be on hand with fossils and staff. 🦴 \nThere will also be many other fossils from the Iron Range on display! This Family Discovery Day will feature our VR headsets that transport you straight to the Cretaceous period. As this is an event for the entire family\, we’ll also have a special fossil play station for the smallish of your dino explorers. And don’t miss our prehistoric eats in the outdoor Food Court! From dino nuggets to fossil cookies\, our kitchen staff is serving up treats that are completely Cretaceous. 🍪 \nPlus\, this event is happening alongside Bands\, Brews\, & BBQ feat. SUMMARY:Interpretive Tour: Kayaking
DESCRIPTION:Get your paddle on! Join the Minnesota Discovery Center’s experienced tour guides as they take you into a watery world unique to the Iron Range. Learn about the Glen Pit Lake’s geology and limnology (AKA: lake science) while getting in touch with the serene side of a recreational paddle. \nThe tour is 1.5 hours long with the first half-hour including a basic safety and skills presentation. You can bring your own kayak\, paddle\, and life jacket\, or you can rent all three from MDC. DESCRIPTION:The fifth artist up on stage this summer is Steve Solkela\, the “Overpopulated” One-Man Band! Words can hardly describe this chaotically creative musical multitasker. Using up to 21 instruments (all on his own) in his performances\, Steve plays original songs and cover songs about the Iron Range.
